ARTHRITIS, the word comes from the Greek arthron meaning “joint” and the Latin itis meaning “inflammation”.
There are over 100 types of arthritis. Two of the most common are:
Osteoarthritis is where the cartilage loses its elasticity. If the cartilage is stiff it becomes damaged more easily. The cartilage, which acts as a shock absorber, will gradually wear away in some areas. As the cartilage becomes damaged tendons and ligaments become stretched, causing pain. Eventually the bones may rub against each other causing very severe pain.
The Institute for Natural Healing recommends several ways to care for your cartilage such as increasing the elastin in your body. Elastin is a protein found in connective tissue that works alongside collagen. Like the name suggests, elastin allows your tissue to stretch. Not having enough causes wrinkles to form on your face, and will also weaken the cartilage in your joints, robbing you of your mobility. To stay loose and pain-free, your best bet is to find foods that support the elastin in your body such as:
• Using krill oil which has astaxanthin which is 60 times stronger than vitamin C when it comes to fighting oxidative stress.
• Vitamin D which slows the progression of osteoarthritis.
• Hyaluronic acid moves nutrients into your cartilage while taking the waste out and is found in some vegetables, like carrots and green peas.
• Sulfur helps the proteins in your joints maintain their shape and function correctly and is found in onions, kale, garlic, organic eggs, and asparagus.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory form of arthritis. The synovial membrane (synovium) is attacked, resulting in swelling and pain. If left untreated the arthritis can lead to deformity.
Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) was originally developed in Japan in 1978 for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, and the benefits have been studied and amplified since that time. WBC is known for its massive boost in collagen production and the release of endorphins which help alleviate pain.
Dr. Oz recommends Cryotherapy for the relief from pain and chronic inflammation, and stated on his TV show that WBC; “It helps! You have less swelling, less chemicals are released into the joint space so you have less aches and pains.” Tony Robbins has his own Cryosauna at his home in Manalapan.
